This Is Therapy for the People

Because mental health
should be accessible to all.

We’re a nonprofit counseling center for individuals, couples, and families.

We offer depth-oriented care from a team of licensed therapists, associates, and trainees working under close supervision.

Marginalization Is Rising, and Care Keeps Moving Out of Reach

Across Orange County, the cost of good therapy has climbed past what a working family can manage. At the same time, more people are living under the weight of being pushed to the edges: over immigration status, over identity, over a faith that no longer fits their values.

The people carrying the most are the ones with the fewest places to bring it.

We built this organization for that gap, and we have been working in it since 2017.

You’ve Probably Already Tried Telling Someone

You worked up the nerve to say the thing out loud. The person across from you reached for a verse or a piece of advice you didn’t ask for.

They meant well. A parent, a pastor, a friend or partner who didn’t have the bandwidth to sit with your pain.

So, now you filter for what is safe to mention. There is a part of your story you have stopped bringing up at all.

Therapy here starts differently. Someone leans in, holds the silence, and listens all the way to the end of the story.

That is the moment our clients tell us they remember.

We Are a Nonprofit Teaching Clinic

Prepare to Change is a 501(c)(3), and that structure is the reason care here stays reachable.

Our team spans three tiers: licensed therapists, associates working toward licensure, and master’s-level trainees. Every pre-licensed clinician carries their caseload under close, ongoing supervision, with six supervisors on staff and clinical operations led by our Clinical Director, Dr. Kelly Granger.

This model does two things. It puts depth-oriented therapy within reach of families who would otherwise go without it, and it forms the next generation of clinicians inside an organization whose foundation is simple: you belong, you are human, you have dignity.

Because cost is the last thing that should keep someone out of care.

We Work with the Hard Parts

Our clinical work is relational and depth oriented. Most of what brings people through our door sounds like a symptom.

But the symptom usually grows from something older: a relationship, a pattern learned early, or a hurt that was never resolved.

We go there with you.

Our clinicians bring trauma-informed therapy, attachment-based and psychodynamic work, family systems, CBT, and Gottman-trained couples work. Faith gets integrated when you want it, and it gets set aside when you would rather leave it out.

A Place That Holds Both Your Faith and Your Doubt

Many of the people we see grew up inside a religious world and are now somewhere complicated with it. Some are still in. Some left. Some are working out what they believe and need a therapist who will let that stay an open question.

Our clinicians are trained to sit with religious and spiritual harm. And they are equally at home with a faith that is still intact. You will not be asked to leave either your culture or your beliefs at the door.

Our outreach initiative, Soul Sanctuary, works directly with churches and faith communities across Orange County to connect their people with affirming mental health care.

Who We Walk With

Couples working through strain that has been building for years. Parents who no longer recognize the teenager in front of them. Adults sitting with anxiety, depression, grief, and relational trauma. People carrying immigration-related stress. Families from bicultural and multicultural households where two sets of expectations run at the same time.

We see clients from age ten through adulthood, individually, as couples, and as whole families.

We do not discriminate against or treat any individual or family differently on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. Every client is referred to by their chosen name and pronouns.
